USAID DRR Training Programme

Accomplishments from October 2009 to April 2010:

  • The first SC meeting was held in the form of a workshop to identify the Knowledge Areas that need to be addressed through the project.
  • Twelve KAs were identified and refined to establish 31 Knowledge Products that need to be developed.
  • A guideline and work breakdown schedule for the development of the Knowledge Products was established as a quality control mechanism.
  • An introductory dvd was produced to clearly explain the rationale of the project to all authors and participants. This dvd can also be applied as a marketing tool.
  • A list of possible authors for the development of the KPs was compiled and invitation letters with guidelines, scheduling and remuneration were sent to all targeted authors.

Results and findings for the period October 2009 to April 2010:

  • The rationale of the project requested further clarification, as the project does not intend to develop a traditional training qualification, but rather establish a “Knowledge Shop” from where different audiences could choose a product that will fit their specific need of training or education.
  • Information on the first SC meeting / workshop was posted to the ACDS website as well as general information on the project. Any project progress and updates will continuously be published on the ACDS website.

Plans for the next reporting period:

  • Finalise official agreement with authors to develop the Knowledge Products.
  • Receive each author’s product outline for the KP to be developed and give feedback to each author on his/her plan.
  • Commission the development of all the KPs.
  • Monitor the development of all KPs according to the process outline.
