Short Courses
Rationale for short courses
Assessing the current skills and expertise shortages in South Africa, the need arises for academic institutes to address the shortages in the country. Providing short courses is no different to addressing these shortages. The ACDS therefore strives to provide relevant, up to date and applicable short courses, addressing the current skills shortages within the field of disaster studies in southern Africa, Africa as a whole and also the rest of the world.
Objectives of short courses
The main objective of all the short courses presented by the ACDS is to provide different institutions with the necessary applicable skills to address their current shortcomings. The ACDS strives to customise our short courses around every institutions individual need, within the broader framework of disaster studies. All short courses presented by the ACDS are outcomes based and are therefore designed to provide institutions not only with the necessary theoretical material, but also with practical solutions to their current challenges and problems.
Accreditation
All short courses are registered within the NWU. The NWU is a tertiary education service provider established by the Higher Education Act 101 of 1997. This entail that all our courses are SAQA accredited and enjoys recognition by all SETAs. Our courses can be adjusted to the specific needs of institutions.
