Ms. Elza Snyman

Position: Senior Administrative Assistant - USAID DRR Training Programme

Highest qualification: Grade 12, SAQA National Certificate in Preschool Education.

Current studies: BA Psychology and Sociology; currently a 2nd year student at the North-West University, Potchefstroom.

Research interests:

Looking at sustainable community developments that will levitate poverty within South African township communities. Ways to improve the effective functioning of community developers within the local-, provincial-, and national governments. Social as well as Gender challenges within disadvantaged black communities in South Africa.

Interests:

The life and innocence of children. Society and its behaviors.

Field activities for 2011:

I have acted as a field worker for Views form the frontline" (VFL) in January 2011, completing questionnaires with  local government officials, civil society actors and representatives of local communities on their views on whether progress are being made towards the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) at the grassroots level of the rural comunity of De Aar, a town situated in the Northern-Cape Province of South Africa.

Hobbies: Playing with my son. Restoration of old furniture. Reading academic journals.
