Following discussions between the South African National Disaster Mangement Centre (NDMC) and the ACDS, an agreement was reached on the funding of the ACDS journal: Jàmbá. The funding will assist in establishing Jàmbá as a respected journal of Disaster Risk Studies in Africa. The funding made available by the NDMC will be utilised for administrative costs as well as remuneration for authors. The ACDS aims to achieve full accreditation of the journal from the South African Government's Department of Higher Education by 2011. It is hoped that the added financial incentive will attract a significant amount of quality articles from various disciplines.
