Dewald van Niekerk is Professor in Disaster Risk Reduction and the founder and director of the African Centre for Disaster Studies at North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus. Dewald is a C2 NRF graded researcher. His interests includes community based disaster risk management, disaster risk assessment, disaster risk governance, building institutional capacities for disaster risk reduction, and transdisciplinary disaster risk reduction.
